Manga Review: Flame of Recca
Flame of Recca is one of those anime that took the heart of many young millennials during the late 90s to early 2000s especially in the Philippines. It's like every kid in own knows who Recca Hanabishi is.
When I watched it some 20 years ago, I didn't know that there was a thing called manga, all I know was anime. But when I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to read what happened after the anime, I decided to read it from the start.
Flame of Recca Plot
Flame of Recca is a ninja/supernatural anime that revolves around Recca Hanabishi, a teenage kid who loves anything about ninjas and even think that he is one too. Fighters often challenge him because of a promise that whoever beat him will be his servant ninja.
Until he met Yanagi Sakoshita, a mysterious girl with the power to heal thus he vows to protect her no matter what. Recca then discovered that he can manipulate flames and that he is son of the leader of the Hokage, a group of ninja that was wiped out 400 years ago.
Review
There isn't much of a difference about the story between the anime and the manga. There were just some notable differences like some of the characters have different colors of hair and such but nothing major. There's also some profane language and matured scenes in the manga.
Unlike in the anime where the story ends just after the tournament, the manga continuous after that until the end and several mysteries and secrets were answered that weren't in the anime. (I don't want to spoil it)
The manga has more than 300 chapters and with the anime, they are both successful. It has several video games, OVA and movies too where they continued the story from where it left off from the anime.
