From The Global Village To Silicon Valley - Are You Ready To Move?

Almost every day that comes by seems to bring with it a news about a technological development, you can't even afford to blink because a little distraction could cost you a lot of information. Where our world is going is amazing, it is more amazing how technology has become a key part of this journey and what it will do at it's new destination, because believe me, there's a shift. And there are three predominant technological innovations gearing this shift, they are Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, the Blockchain Technology and the AR/VR Tech.

To accept the presence of one, is to accept the presence of all. And to deny the presence of any of these concepts is to deny the presence of all. And if anyone is going to deny that these concepts do exist in our world today, that person must be a toddler or needs to go back in time, 20 years before now, before internet came into existence. If however, we all do agree that these concepts are prevalent, then it is up to us to keep ourselves au fait and informed so we can understand how each of these concepts interconnect to form a Whole and to best position ourselves for the shift taking place.

I read an article today, though few months old, blew my mind. The article revealed an evident force driving the development of Machine Learning in our society with utmost vision and relentless efforts, Masayoshi Son, CEO SoftBank, one of the richest men in the world. The article highlights the visionaries hunger and belief for a world where everything is connected through technology.

Billionaire Masayoshi Son–not Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, or Mark Zuckerberg–has the most audacious vision for an AI-powered utopia where machines control how we live. And he’s spending hundreds of billions of dollars to realize it. Are you ready to live in Masa World? source

This headline totally caught my attention because of how almost crystal evident it is that the future is going to be anchored by these technological concepts. For those that don't know much about Masayoshi Son. In the year 2000, Masayoshi invested $20million in a startup, today, that startup is worth close to 400billion in market cap, that startup is Alibaba. Today, any startup investment funding by SoftBank or Masayoshi begins at $100million, and he's mostly known for his sporadic envisioning and support for startup's with similar dreams to his, powering the world with technology.

How does all this relate to us?

In our day to day activities, we are relying more on machines to carry out duties formerly assigned to humans, because of advantages such as 100% accuracy, accountability and speed. Let's take the microwave as an example, warming up a food can now be as easy as dropping the food in the microwave and setting parameters such as timer and heat intensity, and before you know it, the food is done at the exact time it was set to. Almost the same goes for washing machines. How about that time you were travelling, and the driver set the car to cruise control on the highway so he could relax his legs for a while and the car was still in motion? Oh we also have automated homes now that respond to the owners voice control.

Still under this spell of technological reliance, we've witnessed the advent of self driving cars powered by artificial intelligence, meaning the ability for machines to make their own decisions based on the algorithms they were built on. Research have proven that Self Driving cars will reduce road accidents caused by humans by 95%. The article in our context also went on to state that Masayoshi Son is Ubers largest investor, the most successful transport company in the world, also powered by 70% technology.

Lets not forget the most rascal of them all, the Blockchain technology based on math and code which replaces the traditional ledger system that is subject to human error and could be manipulated. What about the immutability of every submitted transaction which proves useful in voting activities as it enhances transparency and validity. This is no doubt the era where technology has come to solve a lot of problems, just like 20years ago when the internet came into existence and made the flow of information easier than ever.

It all makes me think, in a world powered by machines holding critical positions in all our industries, how long will FIAT stand against the digital currencies? In a world where we have self driving cars, will it be more likely to pay for UBER services with FIAT or digital currency? What cryptocurrency do you think is best suited for the future we are going into? What are your thoughts?

The crypto market is a billion dollar industry itself, how much more the billions of investment going into machine learning and artificial intelligence? Is this starting to get real to you?
