The Ballet of Destiny
In the cold streets of Moscow is Fedora Ivanov, a middle-aged woman who had a very sad job but who gave her enough to live comfortably with her little daughter Ninochka who was 8 years old at the time and practiced gymnastics for 3 years old.
It is no secret to anyone that in Russia being an athlete is hard work that could take you a long time or a lifetime to get to stand out among so many athletes. For this reason, Fedora believes that your daughter is wasting time in that sport and should look at other paths such as classical ballet, where if you were good no matter your age and you can become a celebrity with lots of fans, fame and much money. What moved Fedora the most was the fact that her daughter could be a gold mine, so she decides to remove it abruptly from gymnastics and enroll her in a ballet audition that would be the next day. Very much although Ninochka was not very happy about her mother's decision, with resignation she accepts the same and the new direction they took with her life.
They both got up very early to prepare everything for the big audition, until Fedora missed work to go personally with his daughter.
When they arrive at the place they get a large queue of people. I think that they did not expect so much competition, but Fedora has all his hopes in Ninochka and trusts that his education in gymnastics will play him in favor.
At last his turn comes and they do not let the mothers pass, only the girls. Ninoshka was already accustomed to the public, to the looks and the whispers, but something there was different, and it was a climate of coldness of the people present. The jury seemed to have no facial expressions. They only said "танцы" (dance).
Ninoshka gives the music player "play" and begins to execute a nice simple ballet routine that she had learned in her previous gymnastics classes. She was not very good with ballet techniques, but she tried as hard as she could.
Once he finished dancing a terrible silence was heard in the room while Ninoshka smiled at the jury and sweat ran down his forehead.
Nothing, they said nothing.
After a while one of the jurors says:
-You danced like a beginner, you have a body that's too athletic and you're rough. But you know what? I think you have potential and I feel that I can polish you to the point of being a true dancer. So, you're inside, tell your mother to come by.
Ninoshka could not believe it, her face was amazing and her huge green eyes were more open than ever before the unknown that was about to face. He is going to give the news to his mother and while Fedora stays inside the room listening to the indications of the jurors Ninoshka decides to look on his own account to the great hall that adorned that wing of the institute.
He could see huge pictures with famous and very successful dancers, classics like the Swan Lake, among other great works and he thought it was very beautiful, deep down he was beginning to like that "hobby".
In the classroom, they tell Fedora that her daughter should be hospitalized, since that institute takes her ballet classes very seriously and the coming and going of the institute for the girls represented a distraction and exposing them to any accident was present. So, the best ones to take care of them were them, and boy they had experience in that.
Fedora is somewhat perplexed for a few seconds, but then it says in her head:
It's for their sake, they know what they do.After a brief silence, he agrees to give the girl and sign the corresponding papers to be able to enter the next day. Ninochka was somewhat nervous about knowing this new experience in depth, she saw it more as an adventure. Instead, her mother was very sad because she believed in the bottom that she was making a bad decision.
They arrive at that institute and Fedora with tears in their eyes leaves their precious Ninochka in those enormous doors. Even closed still standing there as if they had taken a piece of her at that time, but his heart would console himself from then on to see it only on weekends.
So, the years went by and Fedora saw how Ninochka went from being a smiling and rough girl to a slender, refined and eloquent little teenager. Already at that point Fedora did not care about the money he could get from his daughter, he just wanted her to be happy doing what already with the passage of time he was very passionate about.
After about 4 years of seeing her in performances as a bonus, and observing from the audience the notorious evolution of Ninochka, she is awarded the "Prima Ballerina Assoluta" prize with only 20 years.
In his thank-you speech she says:
-I want to call my mother to receive this with me, since I have seen during all these years how she has suffered for not having me near.
I want to tell you that I love you and I have never stopped loving you, this success I owe it to you even though we started this trip for the wrong reasons, the same destiny took care that each one reflected.
Fedora could not believe it, her crying could not control her, she almost did not let her walk to her daughter.
When he had her in front of him he hugged so hard and with so much love that Ninochka burst into tears too.
