Final Penang meal - Ayer Itam's Asam Laksa
I am pretty sure that most of the people already heard about this place, especially for those who frequently visits Penang or those who are a permanent resident there.
As for those who never heard about this yet, this I can say is the most famous Asam Laksa in whole Penang. Everyone including tourists must try this spot. Just by Googling "Ayer Itam Asam Laksa" and this spot will be your first result, or page one.
The seats are always occupied, but it's really quick to have one as most of the people here are just to eat the food instead of hogging the seat, drinking their beverages and have a nice long talk like at mamak stalls. Sharing table is pretty common too, so don't bother to hold a seat if you manage to get one, try to be generous and share the seat with strangers if there are extra spaces.
The cost for a bowl is RM5 for a regular size. Normally people tend to spend 10 to 15 minutes here and that's the main reason you will get a place to sit really quick, even though the queue can be long depending on which day you visit this place. Me and my boyfriend came during the holidays which is the peak season, but we got ourselves a table right after we reached.
The bowl is not too big though, but for RM5 it is acceptable. Most of the people that eat Penang foods are not aiming to get their tummys filled, but to satisfy their cravings anyway.
I will give this a maximum rating of 10/10, the quality of this Asam Laksa which I can proudly say "You can only get this in Penang"
