But before beginning the experiment we must teach our children what the Friction Force consists of!
Frictional force
It is known as friction force to the resistance that opposes the movement of two surfaces that are in contact.
Now, let the fun begin! We go with the experiment. This time we are going to do a super simple experiment that does not need many materials, you can all get them at home.
Materials:
- A glass.
- A flat and polished surface
- An object that serves as support to create an angle of inclination.
Process:
- We place the flat surface on the object we have to create the angle of inclination.
- Then we put the glass and we notice that it does not move, it stays in the place where we put it.
- Then we wet the glass with cold water and put it back on the smooth surface.
- We observe that the glass in the same way stays in the same place where we place it.
- Finally we dip the glass but with hot water and observe that the glass is rolled and does not stay in the place where we place it.
What happen?
The air trapped in the glass heats up, expands and slightly lifts the glass. By reducing the contact and friction the glass slides on the surface.
As you can see, home experiments can be very useful when used as a teaching and learning tool, as parents we have the responsibility to offer our children the best education possible, for which we should look for the most appropriate strategies, our little ones They are full of curiosity and they love seeing new things and that is a point in our favor, the Cases of Experiments give us a universe of our knowledge.
