Boredom, according to Viktor E Frankl, the author of Man's Search For Meaning, is one of the reasons people end up committing suicide, because they get to a point where they have lost the sparks of life.
This also creeps in when doing a job that doesn't really sooth the heart, though it soothes the pockets.
Pursuing passion still wins it for me.
