Cool Breezy Day Today Warm Weekend Ahead

Hello everyone. Joe Cioffi back again and I'll be covering for Angry Ben probably for another week or so. While he is gone for now, he haunts us with the spirit of his long range forecasts and Hail-Mary tosses. Low and behold, he said 2 weeks ago that our transition to Fall was looking very warm, and here he is throwing touchdowns again. But first, we have some cool air to enjoy.

SATELLITE

Hurricane Humberto remains a feature on the satellite. There could be some rough surf and localized rip currents along the south-facing beaches, but the big feature today will be the pressure gradient it helps create in combination with high pressure to our north.
REGIONAL RADAR

Our radar is clear and that'll remain for possibly 5-7 days straight. The area will have mostly sunny skies today after more clouds than sun this morning. A stiff NE wind with some gusts in the low 20's will help suppress the temps. Highs in the upper 60's to near 70 today.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Tomorrow the NYC metro area bounces back a bit with mid 70's and sunshine, but the NE flow continues (except lighter than today). Winds go westerly on Friday and that'll help bring some warmer air into the area. That'll be the first day the City could near or crack 80, then it's 80's for the weekend.

The sun and lack of rain continue to be a big feature for this period. A large, weakening cold front will help bring warm and humid air into the area. Saturday will bring mid 80's and slightly more humid air, then mid 80's again for Sunday and humid.

Angry Ben's prophecy is on the mark, with the first day of Fall on Monday looking humid and in the low 80's. If the area gets more sunshine, mid 80's are not a stretch.
