Projections Indicate 1 Million Nodes To Be Sold by Year’s End

New York, NY, September 4, 2018 — Elastos announced the first round of sales of the Elastos TV Box, a hardware collaboration with Shanghai Shijiu TV, which exceeded initial estimates and resulted in over 100,000 devices sold in the month of August alone. The TV Box integrates Elastos Carrier to build P2P connections between TV Boxes and other internet connected devices, allowing customers to utilize a direct connection between their devices and customer support without the use of a central server. The move is not only monumental for the Elastos ecosystem — signifying the first successful integration of Elastos Carrier with a device that can be mass produced — but also provides users with added layers of privacy and data protection that the Elastos’ blockchain-based internet infrastructure allows.

Rong Chen, CEO and Founder of Elastos said: “Our goal at Elastos is to usher in a new era of internet — one that is fully decentralized, yet fit for commercial grade use. The success of the first round of sales of the Elastos TV Box, complete with the Elastos Carrier software which enables these devices to act as nodes on the Elastos network, is unprecedented. Our partnership with Shanghai Shijiu TV is pioneering in the over the top (OTT) space, and we are well on our way to establishing a node count of 1 million by the end of 2018.”

Shanghai Shijiu TV offers the world’s leading HTML5 and browser technology in the OTT and Smart TV field. They are partnered with several top TV manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, and Hisense, as well as intellectual property carriers Disney, IQIYI, and Tencent Video.

Yuxin Zhang, Senior Manager of IoT and Smart Home Devices, Elastos said: "If everything goes well, we are hoping to take half of the Chinese TV box market."

Through this strategic partnership with Elastos, Shijiu TV will promote and market Elastos Carrier as a new service with the ability to easily integrate with its existing TV boxes.

Yunglong Zhou, CTO of Shijiu, said: “By using the Elastos Carrier, we significantly reduced development and operation costs for this product. The Carrier feature will be fully deployed in all TV Box systems in the future.”

The fully integrated Elastos TV Box adds features such as ‘family and friend’ interaction, personal cloud disc, and Interplanetary File System (IPFS) storage. Each feature is designed to mirror those of the Elastos ecosystem, and allow for an open source foundation for the secure exchange of information while addressing data scarcity on the internet. Decentralized applications will also eventually be built on the same platform, and be compatible across the Elastos Smart Web.

About Elastos:

With 18 years of development, Elastos aims to be the first completely secure environment on the web where decentralized applications are detached from the internet while also permitting full scalability to millions of users, Elastos will allow full ownership and wealth generation from data and digital assets. Powered by blockchain technology, Elastos had an angel investment from both Bitmain and NEO and has been sponsored by industry giants such as the Tsinghua Science Park and the TD-SCDMA Industrial Alliance. Through a strategic partnership with Shanghai Shijiu TV, the world’s leading HTML5 and browser technology developer in the OTT and Smart TV fields, Elastos is set to reach a carrier node count of one million by the end of this year.
