Stop Subsidizing motor vehicles. Electric or Petrol powered
Politicians are all ridiculous. Stop subsidies, they all lead to unintended consequences. The seen -vs- the unseen.
The recent green new deal, despite being disputed still at it's core is about taxes and subsidies. Taxes take your bargaining power away from you and give it to central planners who in a country (with many states, counties and cities) can never properly plan for all of them. Each locality has specific needs and economies. Subsidies pick winners and lead to distortions in human action also known as markets. Generally the winners they pick are bad in the long term and tend to attract "rent seekers", crony capitalists.
The new green deal is worth a read ,so you know what not to promote. Complexity.
