TEACHER ROOM: Initial language development

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

In the educational field we know that the students' experiences are different, as well as the linguistic uses, but also that the common denominator is sufficient to allow in the classroom global didactic performances with which each one is trained in the use of the basic structures, of language and to develop normative uses, although personal (creative); Therefore, it is worth remembering that you learn to speak not only by speaking but also by correcting deficiencies or errors that allow you to do better and better. To do this, students must verify, correct, reflect, discover everything that can be done through the word (oral or written).

Although any human being has the innate ability to use language, he will only develop it if others help him to do so. The acquisition of language is, therefore, and as we have already said, a social behavior insofar as it requires interaction with others.

In the first years, although the child talks with others, he does it for himself; However, around six or seven years of age you begin to realize that the experiences of others may be different from yours and that you must provide complementary information so that they understand your points of view, that is, that you begin to take into account . to your interlocutors.

Usually, then, also ask questions to complete your own data. In this way, you can benefit from the experiences of others, that is, you will acquire knowledge through conversations with other people.

When the child begins Primary Education, he will not yet master all the words he needs to express his feelings, thoughts, wishes, etc., and any teacher will notice that he has no vocabulary so it will be the right time to work it.

Both the new terms used to designate objects of common use and the unusual ones can be interesting and easy to learn if the teacher knows how to design the appropriate activities. On the other hand, it is necessary to take into account that to work on the acquisition of a new vocabulary, the mere accumulation of words is not enough, but must be worked in relation to the purpose of the students, verifying that the meaning varies. According to the context in which they are written.

It could be mistakenly believed that activities with the lexicon are typical of Early Childhood Education or Primary, however, its importance in both the baccalaureate and university studies, it is obvious if we think that few people in the city know all the names of plants, of birds, etc., and on the contrary, rural students do not dominate other vocabularies.

A constant concern as teachers of languages and literature is to work with an appropriate combination of activities for each content, situation, context, and students.

As already mentioned, children acquire oral language by listening and conversing with adults, so in school, it is necessary to perfect these skills by using them and perfecting them.
