The European Central Bank (ECB) will determine the exact parameters of monetary policy at the autumn meeting, announced the president of the bank Mario Draghi at a press conference.
"The ECB is planning to decide on the future of its monetary stimulus plan in October", said Mario Draghi. "This autumn will determine the exact parameters of its policy instruments for the post-year period", added the central banker, referring to the bond buyout program that is part of the quantitative easing scheme.
The European Central Bank will also closely monitor the exchange rate of the Euro, which high appreciated during the last months. The consumer price index remains also among he key figures, which are monitored by the financial regulator of the Eurozone.
"The Frankfurt institution will take into account the inflation outlooks that remain underway, observing in the meantime the exchange rate fluctuations, whose sharp changes are currently a source of uncertainty", he added. "The ECB follows the currency to understand its impact on price stability", said also Draghi.
The bank kept unchanged its program for monetary stimulus to the economy and its key interest rates at a record low levels.
The ECB maintains its forecast for Eurozone GDP growth for 2018 and 2019 at 1.8% and 1.7% respectively.
The financial institution lowered its estimate of Eurozone inflation from 1.3% to 1.2% in 2018, from 1.6% to 1.5% in 2019, and left it unchanged at 1.5% for 2017.
