Greetings to all, the following story was inspired by the digital art of @xpilar, I invite you to visit his blog. The picture that motivated this story is the following.

Crabs

-These things are enormous! - Martin exclaimed to contemplate the way of eggs left by the gigantic creature - seriously it is not a crab? -.

-I have already told you that it is not a crab- Raíza clarified while watching the monitor and the small ship turned to approach the strange being - it appears a crab, but does not have any relation with our animals-

The creature certainly resembled the crabs that inhabited the warm coasts of the Perseus Sea and had also been taken to other worlds by humans, as a source of food, but not even the largest of these animals, even approached a one percent the size of this titanic being.

As in the crustaceans, his body was covered with a large shell and had a pair of claws that were proportionally smaller than those of a crab, but until now the similarity that this creature kept with these aminals. It had a height of eight meters and a diameter of twenty, its red armor was more like the shell of a turtle than the exoskeleton of a crustacean, had eight legs with a thick orange skin and the feature that most differentiated was his head Oval shaped with a neck that could stretch and shrink like a bellows.

These "Crabs" inhabited a newly discovered large planet, orbiting an orange dwarf. Its gravity was almost four times greater than that of the worlds normally inhabited by humans, so its exploration was rather annoying. It was one of the few worlds populated with complex life forms, which had been found and the first one with giant life forms, from strange winged arthropods the size of an exploration ship and that had the habit of approaching to fly next to you. during long journeys, to aquatic life forms similar to jellyfish, but the size of a twenty-story building.

Even though the environmental engineering division could not intervene in inhabited worlds, its body of biologists could explore them without descending on them, scanning and filming the behavior of its inhabitants, Raiza Nejem was assigned to explore this world in the company of pilot Martín Hayashi.

In their journey they had cataloged more than five hundred giant life forms and many others in normal scale, but the crabs were one of the most attractive for their behavior, particularly hostile to the other individuals of their own species, had already witnessed their fighting and It was really impressive to see such big creatures fight with such ferocity. Each one seemed to inhabit only a clearly demarcated territory and repelled with particular aggressiveness anyone who entered it. Their reproduction was asexual so they could spend their entire lives without approaching another individual of their own species without any problem.

Another curious feature was their particularly strange habit of putting large quantities of eggs that left their fate, for weeks later, return to eat those that had not hatched, apart from that, their diet was based on the filtering of the tiny organisms that They lived in the sand, for which they ingested large amounts of it, and then expelled it in the form of explosive excretions that formed clouds of dust that were dragged by the breeze.

After documenting this individual of this peculiar species, Raíza and Martín, they took course to a forest of strange trees in the shape of mushrooms, that extended by a wide region that practically covered a ten percent of the planet, the strangest thing is that this forest it was a single form of plant life, since all the "trees" shared the same root, it was the largest of four equal ones around the planet.
