Steemit itself can absolutely be censored by ass holes who down vote people until their posts disappear. This is the one thing I don't like about the platform.

It is not censorship when banning or similar is taking place within private sphere. The whole point of Steemit is that we as Steemians should respect certain core values as freedom and respect when we are interacting with each other.
Its in an decentralized manner, as an opposit to all other social medias. I am not saying that Steem is perfect, but its the best we got. When something is flagged the text is still there to be found and read, which is a huge improvement compared to centralized services.
