I have been amused with the presence of IRRI in the Philippines for quite some time now. IRRI is one of of top clients for laboratory equipment in my previous company. @wristalkph on the other hand had his degree from UPLB and is quite familiar with IRRI.
We talked about IRRI before and we were wondering how Philippines was chosen to be the location of the doomsday vault. (and how ironically, we are still importing rice..) Not sure if this is true but apparently/allegedly, our country was chosen because we are an English speaking country. 🤔 This is important (allegedly) because when doomsday happens, it should be easy to communicate with us. Is this legit? I haven’t confirmed yet. 😁
It is ironic how we are still importing rice. Our local rice production should be able to accommodate demands since the center for everything Rice is located here.
It must be true, most BPO's choose Philippines largely because of the number of English speakers and also because the Filipino accent is not too heavy .
