There are thousands of festivals in the Philippines. The majority of which are celebrated between April and June. A lot of these festivals originated from Christianity brought by Spanish colonization. In the south, there are festivals rooted from Islamic concepts, and there are those that have been celebrated even before the Spanish came to the Philippines. Being an agricultural country, the festivals in the Philippines are mostly done as thanksgiving for bountiful harvest.
May libo-libong pista sa Pilipinas. Ang karamihan sa mga kapistahang ito ay ginaganap sa pagitan ng Pebrero at Hunyo. Karamihan sa mga pista ay galling sa Kristianismong dala ng mga Kastila. Sa katimugan, may mga pista rin ang mga kapatid nating Muslim, at mayroon ding mga pista na ginaganap na bago pa man dumating ang mga Kastila. Ang maraming pista ay ginaganap bilang pasasalamat sa masaganang ani, gawa nga ng ang Pilipinas ay isang agrikultural na bansa.

Sa aking isipa'y di mawaglit pa,
Kaligayahan ng panahon ng pista,
Pebrero hangang Hunyong puno ng saya.
Tilaok ng tandang ay uunahan pa.
Maraming gawain ngayon nga at pista,
Mga kababaryo'y naguumpisa na.
Hangang pamimitas ng maraming prutas,
Aming ihahain bilang panghimagas,
Pang-alis ng umay sa lechong makatas.
Pati ang kawayan na pagaakyatan.
Hulihin ang biik sa kanyang putikan,
At sa hapon naman ay may'rong sayawan.
Sa mga biyayang dala ng Maykapal.
Sa maraming bagay kami man ay salat,
Sa pag-ibig mo Diyos ako ay mapalad.

It’s great to know that there are many festivals in the Philippines. It looks like colorful festival in the first photo and I like the beautiful dress they wear.
In the last photo, I think, it’s similar to “Songkran Festival” in Thailand, but here, we splash “water” to each other…. It looks a lot of fun with the painting colors splashing on the body.
