Bulacan Meet Up Power Up Challenge Results

We announced the SteemPH Meet Up Caravan Power Up Challenge a couple of days after the first stop of the SteemPH Meet Up Caravan in Bulacan held on the 17th of February.

We are pleased to announce that between the 17th of February to the 10th of March, the Bulacan Meet Up participants have gained an aggregate total of 199.37 additional Steem Power.

Calculation Methodology

We included all activities that will help users gain additional Steem Power, the challenge was not limited to converting Steem Dollar rewards to Steem Power. These are the data-points captured to calculate accumulated Steem Power from February 17 to March 10, 2018.

• Steem Power earned from posting
• Steem Power earned from curating
• Steem Dollar converted to Steem then powered up
• Purchased Steem Dollars or Steem used to power up, and direct purchases of Steem Power from exchanges

These queries were used to extract the data from Steem SQL database:

Why Do We Encourage Powering Up?

• In my country specific tags analysis series I have seen that the more Steem Power holder a community has, the bigger the propensity for that community to advance in terms of reputation and Steem Power holding.
• Powering up at least some of the Steem Dollars earned encourages a give and take attitude towards ones Steemit activities.
• Promotion is easier than retention, if we are going to grow the community, we need to be able to support newer talented Steemians with our upvotes instead of heavily relying on whales like we do today.
• To drive long-term commitment to the platform, and adjust the mentality from small short-term rewards to potentially bigger rewards in the long term.
• Finally, we wish to come to a point when the community holds enough power to support our outreach, charity, and Steemit promotion efforts.
