Mika's Mandala Artwork [#3] - Mandala Turtle

in #steemph8 years ago (edited)

Meet Mika.
She is six years old and homeschooled.
She likes coloring Mandala Art.

A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe.[1] In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents a microcosm of the universe. [Source]

We first realized Mika's love for mandalas when she filled up an adult coloring book of a different assortment of Mandala art.

She has then moved on to using watercolor pencils and in this piece, she uses washable color markers from Maped. She has tried creating her own Mandala Art and had fun doing it for an Art Contest on steemit where she placed as one of the top 10 entries.

Lately we have been doing more Math and Filipino to catch up on her modules but we try to find time to do the Arts. We also recently added Computer to her schedule but I try to limit use to 30 minutes a week, she is getting to love Bookworm Deluxe!

She chose the colors for this one on her own so she used a lot of purple, one of her favorite colors. As you can see she makes sure to color the same patterns on both sides of the turtle.

She colored the turtle arms with vibrant colors. She put alternating colors on the two rows of ovals on the turtle's back.

By the time she got to these remaining parts...

... she got tired and colored everything pink and blue.

She then wrote her name on top with three exclamation points, excited to put the piece in her art portfolio for school.

What do you think of her artwork?

If you are feeling your creative juices and want to color this Mandala turtle, click here to download and print it out. Hope you enjoy coloring it as much as my little one did!

As @jacinta.sevilla said in her post before,

"Every child is an artist, the problem is to remain an artist once he grows up"

- Pablo Picasso

Little by little we try to practice her passion for art and patterns.

One day she'll read this and laugh, probably at how she made this piece in a rush.

I hope it puts a smile on her face and I hope it made you smile today as well.

Letting your child do his/her passion without question or hindrance is one of the best parenting techniques and you have employed that. She has good aesthetic intelligence.

Continue your support with her craft and for sure it will pay off. It may not be a bucket-load but at least your kid is enjoying on what she does. This is inspiring and I hope, when I have a kid, I'll get an artist though it is not in my genes. HAHA

Me too,art is not in my genes, but @greymonolith sketches sometimes. It's her choice, really if she loves art we do more of that. She said to me 3 days ago, it looks like I like Math too.

Awesome to see kids progressing and growing. Hopefully I'll be a good parent too!

Putting your memories on a blockchain is awesome and hopefully it will be here for many years to come when the little one grows up and does a steemit search ;)

A child's perception and creativity is amazing and I took quite a few things from your post. Moderation is key to keeping a balance for child development.

Keep rockin on awesome moms.

I know I try not to push and let her enjoy our activities. I hope she will find this when she grows up 😊
Thanks for dropping by @momosan, I'm sure you will be an excellent parent someday.

nice to see children doing artistic art like this,:)

Thanks! :)

Some children are creative and they really have to develop their skills because of their potential of being great with their craft and skills.
Nice to see you again @luvabi

She has a creative side so we try to practice it once in a while. I make sure to let her enjoy the process. Lovely to see you @cryptopie, I wish you well!
Thanks for reading!

hopefully later he will become a painter or a great artist @luvabi

Thanks! I hope so too.
