Stories of Marawi: Young Alliyah Volunteers for Marawi
She is Alliyah, 6 years old, daughter of Scout Ranger Allan Benbinuto. She expressed her desire to become a soldier and in fact, this morning, his papa was surprised because she said she would volunteer for Marawi.
This is because she recently received a medal at her school and she thought it was the same as the three violet medals that were pinned in her father's uniform.
The young Alliyah does not know they are Wounded Personnel Medals. Her papa was three times wounded in Mindanao. A bullet went though his thigh in Basilan, another one in his arms during one of their assaults in Sulu and a shrapnel that struck through his eyes in Marawi.
If only Alliyah knew, how much her mother worried about each time his father went to mission.
