Common words to learn when traveling to the Hidden Gem of Southeast Asia, the Philippines

If you want to travel cheaply and looking for a budget-wise adventure but in a nutshell, consider traveling to Philippines. Interesting it is to learn some basic language as part of your journey while socializing as they said "It's more fun in the Philippines" . 

Tagalog is the national language though Philippines is a diverse country , there are some regions that can speak Spanish with over 3 million people we call it "Chavacano"and Japanese "Nihonggo"according to the History.

 You wouldn't wonder that most Filipinos can speak English too, because we are colonized by Americans and  the educational system is mostly in English.

 Here are some words that will help you broaden your horizons: 

Hello or How are you?      -  Kumusta

Good morning                    -  Magandang umaga

Good afternoon                 -  Magandang tanghali

Good evening                    -  Magandang gabi

Good day                            -  Magandang araw

Thank you                          -  Salamat

You're welcome                 - Walang anuman

Goodbye                             - Paalam

When buying something: How much?   -  Magkano

Beautiful                            - maganda (for woman or places)

handsome                          - gwapo (for man)

ugly                                     - pangit

crazy                                   - baliw

happy or fun                      - masaya 

sad                                       - malungkot

interesting                         - interesado

I love you                           - mahal kita (for a single person) , mahal ko kayo (many)

I love you very much       - mahal na mahal kita 

I like you                            - gusto kita

delicious                             - masarap

yes                                       - Oo

no                                        - hindi

maybe                                - siguro

sure                                    - sigurado

One of the new trending expression we used nowadays is  "edi wow" which means something that strikes you fancy. :D
