Re-write your Grid on Family

I have learned that my wife loves family pictures. 5 years into marriage I started realizing that its a thing to take family pictures every year. Not only that but you need to pay someone to take said picture's. Not only that but you have to dress up and coordinate. Not only that but you need to dress up your kids to coordinate. 10 years...and I think I am coming to terms with it.

Then I get a curve ball...doing a little family vaca...with the family...turns out my sister in law loves family pictures even more then my wife and scheduled extended family pics...while on vacation....

This means I have to do the whole ordeal twice this year...and it was Totally worth it...

What is it about pictures that draw us in like they do and pull on our heart strings? We put them in on our walls, display them for anyone and everyone that will listen - they capture our imagination. Setting the table of our minds with the brilliant possibilities of our legacies, what they could hold, what we can write.

Not just for this generation, but for the generations to come...to look back and think, that's where I came from, that's what I built off of...

These moments of depth, captured by a picture, are not without pain. You trace back your biggest dragon, think through that insecurity that has eaten your lunch for decades and you will find that was initiated and built in the dysfunction of family. A non present Father, emotionless Mother, abusive sibling...and yet...we still come back

Let me suggest that families are the learning labs for love. Your experiences will come and go, but nearly every society through out time has been built on the social institution of family. It's the platform that you have been created within to become a mostly healthy productive human being. Not only to become slightly normal, but when healthy , when unconditional love and acceptance is present...family enables the brilliance of our imaginations to be the floor of our destinies.

My intention to these four is to empower them, train them up to be fully alive, and go after life with confidence that they are apart of something bigger. Teaching them not only to slay their own dragons, but those that step up against the collective whole of society...

Allow your grid on your family, your family history, the wins...the pain...allow it to be upgraded.

It's the one you got. You can allow it to be marred and thrown into dysfunction by pain...or you can choose unconditional love and acceptance...get it!
