I bring you my heartfelt greetings for having the privilege of your visit on my blog again.

Today, am writing on a topic “IF NOT FOR BIG DREAMS”. This topic was inspired by @michaelcj as a topic for his contest aimed at supporting minnows within the steemit community.

Before I proceed with the topic, let me appreciate the founder(s) of www.steemit.com for this platform which has given many people including myself an opportunity to develop a skill which hitherto laid undiscovered, that is, creative writing ability or skill. Frankly speaking, I get surprised sometimes when I go to read some of the articles I wrote in my blog, all thanks to founder(s) and members of this wonderful community- steemit.

If not for big dreams sounds like a statement of happiness expressed by one who felt he/she has achieved something big which he/she couldn’t have easily achieved left for his or her tenaciousness. This above explanation sounds true but at the same time not completely true because the definition of Big Dream differs according to individuals.

Here am going to share a summarized story of what was my big dream years ago and how it became a reality.

Am very lucky to have been born in a very poor family of 7 (lucky because of the love and care we share probably due to the poor background. lol). Going to primary and secondary schools was not easy as my parents could hardly foot our school bills.
During my secondary school days, I unfortunately found myself having the urge to acquire higher education, but obviously it is a ‘mission impossible’ as there is no basis to even mention it near my parents since they are even happy that I will soon graduate from secondary school and ease them the burden of my educational training and probably help them in training my 5 other junior siblings. This burning desire which equally manifested in almost all my siblings made me to vow to my senior brother that “instead of me not acquiring higher education, let my children train me in university even at my old age”
On graduating from secondary school, my uncle enrolled me to train in Computer Maintenance and Networking. Thereafter, I started life on my own as a young boy, despite the fact that jobs are not coming daily and challenges seems to be bigger than I can bear.

During the cause of my work as a computer technician, I came across different people with different backgrounds and orientations, outstanding among them was my friend Mr. Moses who coincidently happen to be a part-time lecturer then in a polytechnic in my state. This my friend turned brother among other advises, encouraged me to enroll into any university even when I can’t boost of having N1000 in my bank account.

Because this dream in me was still very lively, I took the bold step and purchased the admission form into a university. This brought a bigger challenge as there is only but a little funds coming my way and out this small fund coming, myriads of problem are waiting to swallow them. Two of my sibling eventually joined under my care, since to them, am rich enough to enroll into a university and I cannot deny them since no explanation will be good enough to stop them. Even amid this problems, am bound to study hard to pass my papers as no excuse is justified.

After five years of herculean struggles, I graduated from a university through self-help backed by my God. Although am yet to get financial gains from my university education but am so happy each time I remember my past, where am today and where am heading to.

Ordinarily, I could not have achieved this “if not for big dreams”

Thanks so much for reading my true life story, which I believe will spur you to greater heights in life.

Am still your neighbor @dubem-eu.
