Will Steem Monster Cards Go Up In Value?
In any card collecting game, the potential for the cards to increase in value is key to the game's long-term success. @SteemMonsters has solid gameplay, it is fast paced and the tournaments add a nice touch. The game is solid, but it is what they are doing with the cards that could really take this game built on the Steem Blockchain to the next level.
They have common cards, rare cards, epic cards and legendary. Some are gold variations, and then all of them can be leveled up. A single, level one card can run anywhere from seven cents to $140. A gold variation of The Peakrider is going for $700 right now.
Each card is a digital asset and is limited. There are more of some cards than others, but as more and more people start to play, people will invest in buying the cards they want to make a better deck. Some cards are limited to a couple of hundred and if they are leveled up, then some are taken off the market.
Having a finite supply of some of the top cards means that those that have them now, or acquire them in the near future could see them go up dramatically in price as more and more people start to play.
When I started playing two weeks ago, I got hooked and spent about $75 dollars in buying booster packs and leveling up my characters. I quickly learned that having leveled up cards will give you a big advantage. The next thing I learned is that buying the specific cards in the marketplace was the best value for leveling up the cards I wanted to improve. Especially at after level four.
The marketplace has thousands of cards for sale and at all different ranks. I've seen some of the top cards go up 10% since I started playing.
I think that Steem Monsters could really become a well liked and widely played game. When that happens, the people that have the early Alpha and Beta cards could see the value go way up. So to answer the question at the start of this blog... Will Steem Monster Cards Go Up In Value?... The answer is yes, especially if the game continues to grow.

I just checked, and it is growing. Since the release of tournaments, the dapp is growing and is the ranked 6th. I think it still has some legs for sure.

Those were the stats in that link this evening and now they are completely different. Don't know which ones to trust.
I believe the hype of SteemMonsters is already passed. The game will keep going and the the best is you have fun and not just think about of the cards price.

I cannot agree more. I actually have some sort of investment plan where I buy packs in a monthly basis and try to earn as much daily reward cards and season as well. Nice post

In combination with @drugwars my firm belief is that these two games will be the "game-changer" (pun intended) for the Steem blockchain. The research I do for my other series "Blockchain Gaming News" is pointing STRONGLY in this direction. People love games, and by integrating crypto into games it makes onboarding MUCH easier. I am gobbling up Steem at rock-bottom price ($0.17_ NOW, as I believe that it is going to take off again due primarily to these games, and SMTs, and so if we stick it out, enjoy the games, and learn, we we all be rewarded into the future...
