Steem Monsters Beta Index and My Thoughts on Prices 2-26-2019

So why are prices (for beta cards) going down. The simple answer is a lack of demand but why is demand weak.

#1 Top tier players are already maxed
#2 Mid tier players don't want to spend to money needed to become top tier
#3 Lack of new players joining and staying long enough to want to level up
#4 Cards were overpriced

So let talk Steem Monsters card prices and was they overpriced. Sorry to say yes they were overpriced but only due to the delay in tournaments. If you have been following the prices over that last few days you may have noticed the rise in prices. I see this as a direct result of the tournaments now being automated with some good prize money available.

Tournaments help to grow interest and helps a few lucky players a way to buy more cards with their winnings. I hope the overall positive of this will be a more robust market and more new players coming into the game. Growth at the early stages of the games development is crucial to its long term success.

The common cards beta index (see below) will be a good indicator of the direction of the market over the next few weeks. I would hope to see it rise from its current 74.76 to close to over 90 by the end of the next season.

Each rarity level has their own index score and is calculated by taking the current value of all cards in the rarity level and dividing it by the total value of the rarity level on Jan 17th, 2019. The result is the percentage change of the rarity level from the index inception point.

My reward cards so far this season (2 accounts) is as follows.

2 gold (both common), 1 legendary, 8 epic, 24 rare and 78 common
