Steem Monsters Beta Index and My Thoughts 2-21-2019
Was a great day today for my girlfriend she got 3 reward cards for her daily quest completion and received 2 commons and a legendary. I received 6 cards, 1 epic, 1 rare and 4 commons. Very happy with the cards we got.

So why are prices (for beta cards) going down. The simple answer is a lack of demand but why is demand weak.
#1 Top tier players are already maxed
#2 Mid tier players don't want to spend to money needed to become top tier
#3 Lack of new players joining and staying long enough to want to level up
#4 Cards were overpriced
Can Steem Monsters survive? Will it go the way of Hecatomb?Part 2
Last post I briefly talked about how the cost to be competitive out of the gate maybe more than some new players want to spend upfront. perfect example of this is my girlfriend that is playing with all my alpha cards and the neutral betas. All are low level being between 3-5 for the most part and summoners being level 3 (Life is level 4). She has noticed that it is getting harder and harder to get to the same level as she did in the previous season. This season she will likely only get to Silver II level unless she finds more time to play.
This is where retention of new players becomes difficult. You don't want it to easy that they don't need new cards but you don't want it so hard they fell forced to either pay up unless they like losing match after match after match .......
Don't get me wrong I thinK the game developers have done a great job with trying to balance everything. But, no matter how balanced or how fair new players are looking at what it is going to cost them not how fair it really is. Can we solve this one problem? Doubtful, mainly because it's not something that is easily fixed. How do you fix something that isn't really definable? I think the best we can do is continue with some new cards from time to time and minor tweeks just as the developers are doing now.
Next time we will discuss card prices.

Each rarity level has their own index score and is calculated by taking the current value of all cards in the rarity level and dividing it by the total value of the rarity level on Jan 17th, 2019. The result is the percentage change of the rarity level from the index inception point.
Beta commons index 72.38 Up Slightly
Beta rare index 107.84 Down slightly
Beta epic index 84.512 Up
Beta legendary index 84.99 Unchanged

Beta Booster packs remaining 486,540
