Speed Kills but also gives life... in Steem Monsters

Speed is a very important stat to a Steem Monster card. It is dictated by the number in the blue circle and winged shoe on the card. Speed is the stat that determines if your card will attack first or attack after in the round of attacks which can be very important to the strategy you are using.

Say for instance if you had both a level 1 Serpent of the Flame and a level one Fire Beetle on your side of the field, the serpent would attack first while the Fire Beetle would attack after. While one would say that's cool what does that do for me it also opens up an idea for strategy. A strategy can be to set up your attacks so that a certain position on the field would be attacked faster than they could attack an thus kill the monster.

Speed allows you to get the upper hand in rounds. If you are a fast team you hope to kill their big hitting creature before they get a chance to attack since the some of the really powerful monsters have slow speed. This occurs a lot with sneak teams that try to backstab the opponents team and kill them swiftly.

The speed stat also benefits the creatures survivability. The random chance of a miss from a ranged or melee attack increases based on the speed of the monster attacked. If you have a ridiculously high speed, then your monster might live to see another attack or keep getting that lucky chance and stay alive in a crucial part of the battle.
