[SteemMonsters] TheoryCrafting - Water Team - 20 Mana - Max Level

Stats are out!

Of course, this is alpha, so they are subject to change. But it's exciting!

OK, so now we know at least the first pass of what stats and abilities are going to be, it's time to talk strategery.

I decided to take a whack at the water team because I was looking at the speed of all the cards and it turns out that the Sabre Shark is the fastest at the max level.

This #theorycrafting is only for max level cards as abilities and stats change with level.

First up, we have the Alric:

He's required to play the water team, so there he goes. He has a +1 buffer to magic attacks which is nice.

Next up is the Sabre Shark. At Level 10, it's the fastest attacker in the game by +2! Sabre also has the sneak ability:

Monsters with Sneak will attack the last Monster on the opposing Team instead of the first and may Melee attack even when not in the first position.

So Sabre will not be in the front line but will be a middle of the pack assassin.

The Crusty King has no speed, a little armor, some health, and can group heal and protect:

Monsters with Group Heal will restore a portion of all friendly Monsters' Health at the start of each round.

Monsters with Protect provide an Armor boost to all friendly Monsters and makes them immune to Fear.

A solid utility slot.

The Mermaid is going to be a rogue/DPS. She has a 4 + 1 (from Alric) magic attack, and can dodge:

Monsters with Dodge have a higher chance of evading Melee and Ranged attacks.

So she will hit and be hard to hit back.

And then the big guns. Frosty can do it all, shield, trample, slow, stun. But has no speed.

Monsters with Shield take reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks.

When a Monster with Trample kills its target, it performs an additional Melee attack on the next Monster, in order, on the opposing Team.

Monsters with Slow cause the Speed stat of all enemy Monsters to be reduced.

Monsters with Stun have a chance of stunning their opponent when hitting with a Melee attack, which causes the stunned Monster to skip its next action.

Frosty is the giant (hah!) meat/ice shield.

So we have 5 cards with 2 DPS, a huge tank, and a tank/healer crossover. I imagine Frosty n the front, Crusty in the back, and Mermaid & Sabre in the middle.

Apparently I need to change the Medusa for the Mermaid, but thanks!

Hey @nealmcspadden, I wanted to mention that we are planning to start with battles that have a mana cap of 20, and that includes the summoner. So this team would be 2 over the cap at 22 total mana including Alric.

I guess that will mean swapping out Medusa for Mermaid

Yea, actually now that i'm looking at it I think those cards needs to be differentiated a bit more...that's what play testing is for i guess!
