Steem Monsters Pack Opening + Alpha Card Giveaway Series - Booster Pack 6
I'm running a series to reveal the true open rates of Steem Monsters Booster Packs, because people usually just post the good stuff which leads to massive disappointment when you just get a RARE and 4 COMMONS (Standard Pack).
Each day in this series I'll open a single pack, and make a nice gif so you can experience the fun too and then keep a tally of the card costs.
My assumption is it's cheaper to buy the cards you need in the Peakmonsters marketplace but I could be wrong.
Oh and I'll be giving away an Alpha Steem Monsters Card every day, scroll down for the giveaway details.

Assumptions: Card values never rise, but we all know this isn't going to be the case. However, documenting this means I can come back later and review the old prices.

Conclusion: Just one rare and it was a Summoner so that's nice but the Elven Cutthroat common is actually worth more on the market.

What is the prize?
I'll be offering a Steem Monster Alpha Card one level lower than the highest rarity card I reveal.
ie. My Best Card is a Rare - You'll get an Alpha Common
or My Best Card is a Legendary - You'll get an Alpha Epic
etc...
How do I enter?

Can I enter with more than one comment?
Only the first comment will count, and I'll be manually filtering spam so make it's comment worthy.
NB: Only seed comments will count, replies to comments will not qualify as an entry.
How will I choose the winners?
For each valid comment, I'll roll a twenty-sided dice (provided by @aussieninja) and the highest roll wins!
In the event of a tie I'll perform a roll-off until we have a winner!

It is interesting to see how you're comparing the booster pack prices to the cost of buying the individual cards on the market, and calculating a net profit/loss per pack. You're right that smaller accounts such as myself often only get to see those big pulls, like the GFL's, and not the effort (and money) that went in to getting them. This is a great series of posts, @just2random, and really opens our eyes to the scale issue. I still buy booster packs whenever I can, hoping for that elusive GFL, but once the battles start in earnest I'll probably switch to buying just the cards that I need to complete a Team.

To be honest, the only reason why you'd open these packs is for the Gold Foil Legendaries or GF EPICs. But if people stopping opening them, the price of cards would rise as supply would dry up.
We clearly have a few people interested in cracking opening as many packs as they can, and while this continues they'll flood the market with cheap cards. Which is good for the single card buyers, so get them any way you can.
And when the money tournaments begin, watch what happens then. People will be climbing over each other to get some of the action and they will be a long way behind with their card collections. This should put upward pressure on the market prices.

Just to clarify what happened in this giveaway. Both @mazzle and
@sparkesy43 rolled a perfect 20, and in sparkesy43's case, the dice roller rolled twice. (It's a bit shaky at the moment but if it accidentally rolls twice I'll always take the first roll)
Anyway, I was going to do a roll off but decided to just have dual winners.

Yeah, they're cool aye? They look much better than mine, which are just made using a "replace/reveal" style of simple animation, rather than a proper full-motion animation like this.
And these gifs are free for anyone to use as promo :-) So just wait until I open the good ones :-D

I think the Beta card values still have a way to go before they find their true market position, but time will tell as more packs are opened and more cards hit the market
