Steem Monsters Journal: A Few Tweaks I Would Like To See
Some Broken Cards
Steem Monsters is well on its way to getting pretty well balanced, but here are a few cards I would like to have seen changed:
- Frost Giant
- Cyclops
- Grumpy Dwarf
- Rexxie
Frost Giant - Frost Giant is much, much weaker than he appears. With a grave susceptibility to magic, he not only lets down himself but the entire splinter. The water splinter needs a strong tank and a slow caster, but fails to get either as a result of Frosty's slow speed and magiv vulnersbility. Always being hit and hardly being able to hit back makes his Stun and Trample abilities as false advertisements. Frosty needs Void instead of Trample.
Cyclops - Even as a ranged monster with Stun, Cyclops is far too mana intensive relative to its abilities and stats to be useful. Slow speed makes cyclops a liability in the back and negates some of the stunning capability.
Reducing the mana cost to 5 and raising the speed seems like an appropriate fix.
Grumpy Dwarf - Too susceptible to magic to be used as a front defender. Its slow speed and limited health doesnt exactly make it a useful 2nd in line defender either. I think this card can be tweaked by reducing to 1 arkor and adding that two extra armor to health.
Rexxie - Rexxie got a whole lot less sexy after Trample was nerfed. At 8 mana it was always the most expemsive card to play, but sadly its high cost is just too prohibitive given its limited playability now. Earth splinter needs less mana-intensive cards, so lowering the cost to Rexxie seems appropriate.
