[Steem Monsters] Daily Alpha Pack Price Update - 5
Hey guys! This is another update of our daily series analysing the prices of alpha packs! I hope to make these more informative in the future after my exams are done when I have more time! For now, you'll just have to live with just a table of numbers haha
Introduction - why?
Why daily pack prices you may ask? Well, this to me is the best indicator of a diversified investment in alpha cards index, or Alpha Packs Index (API). The API will be defined as the expected value of an alpha pack. If you'd like to know how that is calculated, feel free to check out this post which explains it
If you've purchased a lot of alpha cards, you'll likely have one or more of each card, or at least a huge variety of them. This index is an average of all cards which will help you decide whether the market is on an uptrend, downtrend, dip, etc.
NOTE: the volume and liquidity of cards is quite low, so for now the API might not be a perfectly accurate index but will still provide a very good estimator, especially when we have more data points.
Prices used for today's calculations
ASSUMPTIONS
- These prices are the LOWEST PRICE/BCX at the time of writing thus provides a very conservative estimate of your cards' worth.
- Gold foil legendaries have VERY low liquidity, thus I'll provide an estimated valuation instead of market low
Below shows the data used of each category with ascending prices.
@cryptoeater I bought some alpha cards back in june I think, haven't bought any betas yet..Are the alphas stronger/weaker than betas, or is it the same?
Will it make any sense to just keep the alphas for a while, hoping they will increase in value?
Do you know how many alphas/betas there are in total? Don't know why, but I have an impression that there are much fewer alphas..making them more an investment object..Is that completely wrong?

Hi @vintherinvest! The betas and alphas are the same at max level, but you need fewer alphas to level the card up to max! There were a total of 300,000 alpha packs, of which all have been sold out and thus no more will ever be produced. I think there has only been around 200,000 beta packs sold with 700,000 left to be sold!
As for investment, I'm not a financial adviser or anything, but I have amassed a large collection of alpha cards as I speculate they will increase in value in the future, especially when tournaments come out.
From what I've heard, @aggroed has said there will be some tournaments which are alpha only or gold only, which I will be looking forward to!

If you need fewer cards to level up, that gives the alphas an advantage, like that since the majority of my cards are alphas🙂
