Thoughts on Steem Monsters Season 6 Changes

Wow already Season 6!

I think SM just keeps getting better and better, but still feel not being able to level cards through game play was a huge misstep.

Adding new abilities to cards not being played feels like they are trying a little too hard, over engineering the experience, I prefer a more organic approach. It's also a little scary knowing the game devs can and will overhaul existing cards.

Cutting the rewards should be a lesson in managing expectations. Don't give lots to start and then take away, start lower and then increase accordingly.

Pairing back rewards for lower level tiers sucks for a couple reasons. First and foremost they are not addressing the root cause of the issue [bots], so it's a band aide solution. Secondly this game needs to be focused around lower level game play, eliminate all barriers to entry. Get people in, make their game experience amazing and they will stick around and generate revenue later in their life cycle.

Is part of this issue the fact that the 1% [mavs] have significant influence on the direction of this game?

The new reward cards are pretty cool, some definitely have more utility than others and of course we will see some cards used much more than others. Overall I think the decision to make a rewards series was a great one. These cards will be a lot of fun with increased mana caps.

I would like to see the ability to have a little more control over custom games, like choosing a mana cap range or reducing the variation in game play rules or at least to be able to have a bit more control over that.

Happy gaming!

They need to do something about increasing summoners without the need to purchase. This last season, I ended up with a bunch of cards that are past my summoner levels.

But, I guess that's just part of the business model.

Then this model is flaved because restricts new players from coming in. They will be stuck in bronze forever if they will play at all knowing this.

Especially with how high the transaction fee is. Maybe if STEEM was back over $5, it wouldn't be a big deal, but at the current price, it is restrictive to those who don't want to spend the money.

It is good to see you are back. I was looking to see if I could vote on any of your comments or articles (because you were not playing the game and I couldn't vote you there) but you had not posted anything for a while.

Your comments above reflect my own thoughts as well. Seems the dev's. are new at game-making and are bound to make a few mistakes.

I find it frustrating when the daily quest asks you to use a specific splinter and then you can't use that specific splinter for several battles because of the random rules that come up. There should be something in the code that excludes the rules preventing you from using what is required from the daily quest.

By the way, a new zombies game is just starting and it would be nice to have you back.

Don't give lots to start and then take away, start lower and then increase accordingly.

I agree with this 100% ... they offered too much and are caught in that loop. Sadly the rewards are too top heavy and the cuts percentage wise was very uneven.
