Welcome to the new adjunct Steemzine; Steemlight Point-One, or simply; Steemlight.1.

You may have noticed that I have been using decimal points for the Steemlight issue numbers, well there was a reason for that.

Point-One is the sister zine to Steemlight, and it will be used to launch competitions and make announcements. In addition to that Point-One will feature subjects that are still applicable to Steemlight, yet not quite right for that platform.

It will give me a chance to highlight some subjects that I feel could be good for the community, whilst keeping Steemlight purely as a curation tool.

So without further ado, let's get into issue 1.1 of Point-One!

ANNOUNCEMENT

Just before we go any further, I'd like to announce the new Steemlight chat channel, you can follow that link, or click hereto access it.

Where Are They Now? - The Curious Case Of Connor Cranston

Way back in the deep mists of Steemit; well, last year actually, when Steemit was but a little pup, I posted an article called 10 Unsung Heroes Of Steem, even back then I felt there were people who deserved more attention.

I've always felt that whilst original content is great for Steemit, as regards to search engine traffic. So too is curated content. The internet is awash with information, so it's nice to have curators who can filter it out for you.

With that in mind I made @connorcranston one of my Unsung Heroes.

Connor posted a great TEdX talk by a woman called Marissa Peer. The talk was about reaching beyond your limits and it opened me up to a whole new branch of thinking.

I liked that Connor didn't just post the video, he presented a reason for showing the talk, by telling us how it related to his experiences. Also how it might relate to yours.

Connor's short, sharp style of delivery and presentation was refreshing, and I genuinely looked forward to finding out more things that interested and motivated him.

When I put him into the post, he had a few cents, by the time July 4th came around (Steemit's first ever payout day) Connor's article had made over $700!

I tried finding him on chat numerous times before and after the 4th to tell him the great news and to encourage him to keep posting.

Unfortunately he became one of the many early people who posted once or twice, didn't make immediate rewards so walked away.

Possible Scenarios

  1. Connor is fully aware of his windfall, however he's lost his password and can't access his account.

  2. He is completely unaware of the positive response to his article and has not logged into Steemit since.

Hopefully it's the latter, because as far as I'm aware, password recovery is only possible if you've been hacked and remember what your password is.

If it's the second one then let's find him!

Finding Connor!

Finding_Conor_steemlight.1_cryptogee_RZ620.jpg
He's out there somewhere . .

So this is the first Point-One competition, whomsoever is responsible for finding @connorcranston and making him aware of his good fortune, wins, it's as simple as that!

Obviously if he is already aware then the comp is off and the money will role over to another one.

How To Play:

Find @connorcranston get him to log in and send 0.001 Steem to @cryptogee with a memo titled I've been found! containing the following details:

  • your name and/or Steemit account
  • the date, using the format dd/mm/yy
  • the time of day (UTC) using the 24 hour format of hh/mm.

Bonus Game: In the comment section reply to the @cryptogee comment titled: *When Will Connor Be Found?" Your reply should contain the following:

  • The date you think Connor will be found on
  • The time at which he will be found.

Participants must vote for the main comment, DO NOT vote for your own comment or anyone else's, this will exclude you from the competition.

Prizes:

  1. There is a first prize of 20 SBD

  2. The winner of the bonus game will receive 75% of the comment's SBD payout. So if the payout is 100 SBD, the prize fund will be 75 SBD. The remaining 25% will go towards future prize funds.

Payout Rules:

  1. 20 SBD (Steem Backed Dollars) will be transferred to the winner within 24 hours of confirmation of competition criteria being met.

Whilst it is not necessary to own a Steemit account to enter the competition, one will be needed to claim the prize(s).

  1. In the event there is no winner, either by Connor not being found, or he logs in without being alerted. Or he becomes aware of his account by finding this article. The prize fund will be come null and void, and will rollover to a future competition.

There is no obligation to hold the future competition within a time period, nor to make it related or unrelated to the Finding Connor competition.

  1. The Bonus game prize fund will be transferred to the Steemian with the closest guess without going over.

So if Connor logs a date and time of 26.10/17 - 00.01 UTC

a guess of 24/9/17 - 10.21 UTC will beat a guess of 27/10/17 - 23.59 UTC, even though the second estimate is just 2 minutes out as opposed to 2 and a half days.

Competition Rules:

  1. The winner has to be confirmed by @connorcranston in a 0.001 Steem or SBD transfer memo. The memo must also contain the date and time, at the moment of sending.

  2. The time and date sent in the memo from @connorcranston will be classed as the winning date and time, this is regardless of how long it takes @connorcranston to log on after being found.
    .

  3. If Connor claims (by memo in the original transfer) that there is more than one person who has found him, the prize money will be split evenly between those people.

  4. The competition is initially open for 90 Days starting from the day of posting this article.

  5. If @connorcranston is found after 90 days, and he confirms in memo, then the finder can still, at the discretion of @cryptogee, be eligible for the first prize.

  6. The bonus competition is only open for 90 days without exception. Therefore only dates that are within the 90 day period can be chosen. With 17/11/17 at 23:59 UTC being the last day of the competition.

  7. In the event of the bonus competition funds not being won, 100% of the SBD payout will rollover onto a future competition.

  8. If @connorcranston refuses to confirm via memo, all prize funds will immediately roll over into a new competition (no exceptions).

  9. The competition is to find the owner of the @connorcranston account, no other person or persons claiming to be Connor Cranston, or bearing that name, will be deemed the owner until such proof is provided by way of a 0.001 Steem or SBD transfer to the @cryptogee account.

  10. All time and dates entered in the bonus game must be in the format; dd/mm/yy (day/month/year) all times must be given in UTC (Universal Time Code = GMT). Any time given in the memo, or any times given in relation to the bonus competition, will be regarded as Universal Time.

SO THAT'S IT GUYS! IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT JUST FIND CONNOR CRANSTON, GET HIM TO CONFIRM THAT IT WAS YOU WHO FOUND HIM VIA MEMO TRANSFER WHEN HE RELOGS IN FOR THE FIRST TIME.

DON'T FORGET TO ASK HIM TO PUT THE EXACT DATE AND TIME IN UTC (GMT) WHEN HE SENDS THE MEMO.

REPLY TO THE CRYPTOGEE COMMENT BELOW TITLED WHEN WILL CONNOR BE FOUND? WITH YOUR GUESSES AND YOU MAY WIN THE BONUS SWEEPSTAKES!

DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE NEW STEEMLIGHT CHAT CHANNEL

Till next time, keep Steemin'

Sadly, I am going to go with never found :(. So I suppose 17/11/17 at 23:59 UTC will be my date.

20/08/2017 1pm UTC

As a side note (before I watch his linked Ted talk), his post earned 722 dollars, with just 21 votes, and 7 views. That is astonishing. Onto the video..

You never know . .

Yes those figures look incredible judged by today's standards; however you have to remember that this was right at the start of the site, when there weren't that many users, also there was no voting power bar.

All that added up to some very big rewards being handed out!

Cryptogee

I have news! And, selfishly, i wish i'd stuck with my original guess!

So researched the steemit username, saw a Ted vid on Youtube with same name, visited a site i suspect he'd be present on, and........

wow you must have really been touched by this guy. Why is it you spent so much time making a post about this? There must be something more than whats in this post. He was a good curator for a post but you haven't really said anything else about why you would write this whole post and give a reward for finding him?
Very interesting.

Pretty sure i've found him, but the competition rules deem i wont win anything for it as he's lost his master password.

This be our Connor....

Hi @quinneaker,

For some reason I didn't see this at the time; yes he did touch me, the video he posted opened me up to a whole new realm of thinking and proved very valuable to me. I just wanted to pay it back, shame he lost his password. :-(

Cg

Wow, thats powerful. Not many people influence us like that. Special indeed.

So did you find him and he just lost it or never found him at all?

Yes it was @abh12345 who found him, however he reckoned he'd lost his keys; I'm sure after what's happened with that guy who got hacked, he could probably recover if he remembers the email he started with.

He seems like a busy guy, so maybe he's just not bothered; shame.

Cg

Man now I wish I met him!

I love you and love your publications. You are my hero. I want to become like you. You are the strongest I will be happy and grateful to you for inviting me to admire my posts and share them on your page I love you hero
