# 625 - 1937 Texas
Continuing our small series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the MS-65 1937 "Texas".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
This coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of Texas independence from Mexico, in 1836. To have a greater profit, they were minted from 1934 to 1938 in several mints.
NGC graded 1,225 mint state 1937 Texas, with 467 MS-65 and 483 graded above.
A total of 6,571 1937 coins were distributed. Today's price is around U$200.00 in this grade(MS-65).
The obverse features an eagle clasping an oak branch with a large star in the background.
The reverse features the kneeling figure of winged Victory. In her right hand is a spray of laurel, while her left hand rests on a representation of the Alamo. Beneath each of Victory’s wings are portraits of the Texas heroes Sam Houston and Stephen Austin.
