The world’s simplest souffle, post014

in #steemkitchen6 years ago (edited)

This is the world’s simplest soufflé. It is not the world’s best, but it is the simplest. How simple is it? The only ingredient is one egg. In this video I will demonstrate making this soufflé, and will discuss how to improve upon it.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 11 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Separate the yolk and white from the egg.
  2. Beat the yolk until creamy.
  3. Beat the white until it forms soft peaks.
  4. Add 1/3 of the whites to the yolk and stir.
  5. Add yolk mixture to whites and fold together until just mixed.
  6. Bake at 350 F for 11 minutes.

The result is the worlds simplest soufflé. No, it isn’t the best, in fact, it immediately deflates once you begin eating, but it is the simplest. I made this video to demonstrate that soufflés aren’t as complex as people make them out to be. I will be extending this recipe in the weeks to come.

I have since posted a video showing how adding a pinch of flour and splash of water significantly improves the final product. You can see this video here: https://steemit.com/steemkitchen/@spbeckman/x7po0kgf
