Vodka Mint Limeade: Cooking with Crypticat 100th post!

Hi Everyone,

It's a beautiful Friday in the summer and there is no better way to enjoy it than with a nice cool drink. Our mint plant has gotten out of control so I thought of putting it to good use. Fresh mint is best used to add flavour to cool liquids or you can dry the mint for making tea. The first time I made this drink it was so refreshing, it has become a summer staple, vodka is of course optional 😸

Ingredients

20 Mint Leaves
1 or 2 Limes
1/2 cup of Sugar (or Stevia/Agave syrup)
8-12 Oz (250-400ml) of Vodka
Ice Cubes
8 Cups of Water

Directions

1. Wash a lime or two and some mint, I used about 20 mint leaves

2. Pour 7 parts water for 1 part Vodka in a pitcher or mixer. The water can be a combination of ice and water, the strength should be to taste

3. Add the juice from the limes, 1/2 cup of sugar (or some Agave syrup/Stevia), and crushed mint leaves to the mix
   ~ If you want more colour you can blend some lime peel and mint in a mixer, you can also crush ice while you're at it

4. Stir and Enjoy Responsibly!

You can see Crypticat watching me pick the mint leaves, she loves spending time out on the balcony watching the world go by. Whenever you can, try using fresh produce; you can of course by limeade mix from the store and add vodka, but there are artificial dyes, flavours and all sorts of unnecessary things in it. Buying premixed coolers is even less creative, take a look at the ingredients, it's usually just vodka and cheap juice or pop. Making your own drinks is simple, less expensive, more fun and healthier (vodka and sugar aside)
