Man who invented 'the most painful torture device' in history became first victim of it
The inventor of the Brazen Bull, a torture device from Ancient Greece, became its first victim when he was locked inside and almost cooked alive. Perilaus of Athens created the bull for Phalaris, the tyrant of Akragas, and presented it to him as a gift. However, Phalaris then asked Perilaus to demonstrate how it worked and locked him inside while lighting a fire beneath the bull. Perilaus was eventually saved but was executed by being thrown off a hill. Ironically, Phalaris himself later met his demise in the same bull when he was overthrown by Telemachus.
