[Status update] Steemitworldmap is down: call for support!
What happened?
I have some unfortunate news to share with all of you. Steemitworldmap won't be able to add new posts to the map for, most likely, a few days. The good news is that all posts that will have added the tag in their post during this period, will be added to the map once the issue is resolved.
The back-end of, like some of you may know, was created by @blueorgy. Somehow he has been unreachable by me, and it seems anyone else for that matter, for over a month now. I have no clue as to what's going on, or if he's even alive at all. One thing I do know is that his server seemingly was shut down.
If I had access to his code, this would not be such a big deal. I could've transferred this code to a server of my own, but I do not have access to his code. I have send him multiple messages over the last weeks asking what's going on and if he could send me the code. All of them went unanswered.
So here we are, and the Python script, that takes the posts containing the Steemitworldmap tag and adds them to the Steemitworldmap database, is no longer up and running. As I have limited experience with coding these kind of scripts, I'm currently talking to some developers who might be able to do it in a relatively short time frame.
This means that those programmers will be spending a lot of hours on the project, on well, double work, and no sane person would do that without getting rewarded. So if you like this service and want to see it up as soon as possible. Please consider supporting the cause.

I'm sad that I only see me and 1 other person donate steem to SWM. I know more people use and should appreciate it. Where are all the donations! lol. Hope your getting some more support via other currencies. I really wish your project the best @steemitworldmap.
Yeah, but not all people know what's going on yet I reckon, ah we'll see! We're already making progress on fixing the issue! Hopefully it's all good to go in two days or less!
Hope I was able to help a little, I know it wasn't much. But anyways, some cool news is that I've got my mom getting all her hiking posts on the map now too!
I had to go over it with her again today for her new post. She's really killin' it though. Best of luck on getting SWM all fixed! Overcoming these difficulties is just a step to a better more successful SWM

It definitely is, we're actually even improving the whole code while we're at it too! We're doing a quick fix that should be up pretty soon and has all the basic functionality, so that the posts at least get added, but meanwhile we're also working on a better long term solution!
We have some big ideas for the map as well, but I can't really disclose them yet as a lot of it is still in flux and bound to change!

These past few days ive also been trying to contribute to the map but it wouldnt let me generate a code. Hope everything goes well and I hope @blueorgy is ok...
What browser did you use?
That problem should be fixed normally (a hard refresh might be needed though: ctrl + f5 on windows)!
I hope so too, it's really odd...
I use firefox. There was a recent update with the browser so that could be the problem
Can you test it again now (the code copying part), it should work now! Do press ctrl + f5 first when you're on the page though.
