in #steemitultimatechallenge7 years ago (edited)

Good day everyone! Here's my entry for the weekly contest hosted by @dobartim. I would like to acknowledge @dobartim and the rest of the sponsored for this challenging competition. This is favorable to all steemians who wants to share personal stories. I've seen this contest since week #1, but I wasn't able to join, maybe I'm hesitant to join a 1000 words minimum writing contest. But at this time, I want to challenge myself with this awesome contest. Please if you want to join this competition, please check the link HERE.

Who knows you might win and received a big prizes! Well, good luck to all the participants!

Let me start my entry by a short introduction about myself. I'm Antonette, a natural-born Filipino citizen from Davao, Philippines. I'm married and we have one son. Currently living in France with my french husband. I've been here since 2014, and I'm a full time mom. I love doing arts, used to travel by chances, listening music when get bored, movie fan and love different cuisine! I joined steemit last December 18, 2017 and I'm loving it! The new journey of my life has changed! So here's my story goes......

HOW STEEMIT INFLUENCED MY LIFE

Living in the other side of the world was an adjustment to my life. New environment, people, culture, language and more to explore. Life is getting tougher everyday if you give up. I'm a Civil Engineering graduate, and it's not easy to find a job related to my degree or experiences. I found ways to have my own income by accepting some Autocad designing. I got 3 projects then, but it ends up easily until I got pregnant, which made me difficult to find job. I sold some of my scrapbook to my friends, but recently no more order and it's not enough income. I stop doing art, but my husband tried to convinced me to do so, but I don't have energy or interest at all. After I finished my french language course, I started to get bored. But luckily my supportive husband bought me some art stuff to divert my feelings and took a short vacation by chance. The day I gave birth with our first son, it was an awesome feeling having our first baby. Excited, happy but as time passed by, I felt exhausted. I felt a little bit depressed, maybe this is what they called "post tantrum depression". Maybe it's not totally depression, maybe I'm just bored staying at home and miss my job. My husband used to takecare of us everytime he finished his job. But something is missing, I miss doing my arts and my job. Our priority is to takecare of our baby, but I don't have time for myself, neither my husband. Were in adjustment stage that time as a newly parents.

One day, my college friend @ediah invited me to join steemit. At first, I'm not interested, but when I saw on her facebook account that she earned in posting some of her digital arts! I was amazed and can't believed that a platform will pay you by posting a blog or etc! My mind setting turns into positive way. I started joining steemit last December 18, 2017. I posted some photos with short text which only earned cents. I was busy then. I made my first introduction post, but it was too short and dull. My friend gave me some tips on how to make an introduction post. But before I made a second introduction, she invited me in her group.

Sans titre.pngI joined in this community @Steemitachievers. With this group, I've learned to communicate and mingle with them by chatting thru messenger and discord. Some of my mentor is sir @long888 who gave some idea on my second introduction post, and I made it up with the help of my friend and sir @long888. At first, I was so hesitant to communicate with them, specially I'm a newbie, but later on, I build up friendship already!

And because of steemit, I started to pursuit my interest in arts. Awaken my arty crafty hobbies. Then I started making some arts, and posted in my blog. I'm not a writer or a blogger, but I tried my best to write up something to earn and ofcourse to show my interest in different perspective way of life. My husband was happy that "I'm back in the track" doing some arts while giving some time to my family. All my art stuff are no longer stock in storage box and they are not lonely anymore! lol! I can use it anytime I want. This really changed my viewpoint, and I am more motivated doing what I love.

a.pngA big gratitude to my friend @ediah for always supporting me in many ways. She invited me in another community which is @Steemitfamilyph. I met new people and some of them were a good mentors too! They always helped each other and give some encouragement.

These two groups are mostly Filipino and talented steemians. I'm proud to be a member, they mold and help us to become who we are. They guide and encourage us to be more patient and continue making good content. Yes, this platform changes our lives, we earn but the most important part is, our way of thinking, our negative sides flips up side down, we become who we are. And by steemit we build friendship, self-confidence and financial aspect.

MY SELF-IMPROVEMENT AND PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

As a newbie in steemit, I knew that this platform, earning is not easy, "it's not a piece of cake".

You have to strive and work for it. I tried to joined some contest aside from posting. Last December, I participated a drawing contest hosted by @jacinta.sevilla which is the "strawberry" theme. She's one of my group in "steemitachievers" and she's very talented. At this time, I won in her contest as honorable mention. That was my first ever winning prize in steemit! Followed by winning a writing contest hosted by @anomadsoul, with the title " Welcoming the new year". And drawing contest hosted by @deemarshall for the 1st prize.

Finally, last January I was curated for the first time, with my art tutorial "DIY: Steemit Vintage Journal". I already earned more sbd and steem and my reputation raised too! Then I still continue posting and joining some contest and won another prize hosted by @sparkyez in a drawing contest.

I started making clay art and it was successful until one day, I saw in my newsfeed about the "clay art contest" hosted by @josejirafa. I joined his contest since week #1 up to the present. I'm glad I found this clay art contest, it was a big help for me and winning my entry was my achievements! In February, I won the following contest hosted by @deemarshall, @deeday31, @mermaidvampire and the rest of the Steemitachievers group for logo quiz in steemitachievers discord, @photoquest drawing contest and even singing contest. lol! I tried my best to joined though I'm not a good singer, to proved myself that I'm willing to face new challenges in steemit and want to learn more. It started by the contest hosted by our very own @surpassinggoogle up to @steemitfamilyph and @steemitachievers singing contest. I didn't won, but the experienced is a big win win for me, another stage of being timid singing in this platform!

Last March 3, another blessing came to me! I was curated for the second time, with my "DIY: DIORAMA - For Saint Seiya anime figurine"! I was contented! It's additional to my steem token! My journey in steemit turns up and down. But I will never give up and continue learning. Success always comes in the right time! Just keep on steeming and avoid too much pressures of not earning much.

MY BANDWIDTH LIMIT EXCEEDED EXPERIENCED

In my first month, I thought my sbd and steem are enough, so I tried to power up my steem, considering that I encountered "BANDWIDTH LIMIT EXCEEDED". But thanks to my friend @ediah who delegated a steem power, no need to worry about this issue, I can do some activities in steemit because of her help. And soon, she can take it back since I will get additional SP from my latest curated post. Delegation really works and ofcourse posting some good content and joining contest will help you earn more. Need to power up and I'm hoping to get more SP , in order to delegate and increase my voting power too. Power up, buying steems, posting good content, comments and gain followers are essential in steemit.

FINANCIAL HELP

As a full time mom, I don't have another income to help my husband. Working alone is not easy and I need to send money in my country for the bills. But because I was engaged with steemit, it helps a lot specially a housewife like me and some other steemians who's salary is not enough. I never tried cash out, my aim is to save it first, power up, then once I will get more earnings and the value of sbd will rise, maybe it's time to cash out. This platform is really significant, I can earn with my art or etc, but in some other social media I don't get any money by posting.

That's how steemit changed my life ... Thank you for taking your time reading my story. Hope I inspired people. Thank you once again @dobartim and have a great day everyone! Keep on steeming!

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 19 SBD worth and should receive 61 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
