Hello, my name is Putri Maulina. I am a Communication lecturer at Teuku Umar University, in West Aceh capital. My hobby is writing, and I have joined this Steemit platform since January 2018. Yes, I am still a very newbie here.

I would like to say thanks to @dobartim, for this amazing challenge and his amazing reward. I am also the one who interest to join and participate to this challenge. But before..I am very apologize to my poor of English languange (it is because I do not use and believe to google translate). I will try to give my best to explain you what is my life changing after join the Steemit. Wish me luck!

MY LIFE COMMUNICATION IS CHANGING

Why am I joining this Steemit?
Actually, I am not someone who really needs for the money. I have no problems with my financial life, although I am not a rich woman. But, my financial or income of my job as lecturer still enough to live my everyday life.

I have long time knowing this media platform, but I don't care and interest to it. Until one day, I came to a training develop by FAMe (an Aceh Writing Forum), then I try to start writing in Steemit. At the first, I felt so amazing to what Steemit gave.

The sensation of getting voted and dollar reward everyday after a writing makes addicted. At the first, I was
really felt that Steemit can help me to increase my income. In my head, I just thinking about how to get vote, to be interesting, to increase my daily reward, and to upgrade my steemit reputation. I want to be like the other big steemit writer or steemit currator as soon! It looks so amazing.

Until then, I felt there is a mistake here.

I do have to change my orientation!
It is not true, if I make 'money' as the main orientation. I must get more than that.

Then, I found that Steemit gave me some rewards that can not be valued by money. It is called the process of "self-actualization" in a great relation called "brotherhood". Like one of my steemit motivation, Mr. @levycore, said.

My life communication is changing.
Actually, I do not too like to get communication with each other in a social media, I also do not have some special social community beside my job at the campus. But when I am joining and actively writing in this steemit, I have great motivation get interaction and socialization with another people in my whole life.

As a lecturer of Communication Study, steemit learn me to understand a real communication practice. This is some effective communication forms that I got of steemit:

1. Great Community

Now I have a community, it is named KSI or "Indonesia Steemit Community". In this community, I have great and amazing friends from some differrents background --like @bairuindra as a teacher, @dicky, @danialves, and @sudirmanz as a journalits, @muh, @renijuliani, @anharfazri as my patner in crime at the campus :D, and also @dinihartati, @sarahridwan, @riskasol, @yettiphonnayani as my student. I also have some new friends who never I meet before like @yellsaints and @djamijalal.

Having a community is important in steemit. Because this steemit platform is difficult or impossible to walk alone. If I do not have community, so I believe I will hard to survive in this social media platform. Steemit has motivated me to join the community. That's mean, steemit also motivate me to make my social relation more better.

I can build another family relationship outside the home. I get more brothers and sisters. And I happy for it.

2. Supportiveness

In steemit, it is very important to support each other. If I can support my friends, so my friends will do the same. And it is became like a cycle. Steemit motivate me to understand that important to have this attitude. To find good reward, so I must support another. Why? This supportiveness can make trust.

In the community, my friends will trust me if I can give "something" benefit for them. Something like want to just visit to their posting, read, comment, and vote it. It must do by sincerely. So, they also will do the same.
This I named the "supportiveness".

3. Sharing and Transfering Knowledge

I also was be motivated to share many things in steemit. I write so much about some crussial issues, some places, some activities, argumentation, etc in order other people know. And also my friends, they share everything that important to be known. So here we share each other. So, many of new knowledge and information we get from this.

In other side, when I felt this steemit is very useful to help financial problems, then I have a responsibility to share another and make them know. In my social life, there are much people have the financial problems. Some of them difficult to find solution to fix this problem.

So, I get motivated to inform them that steemit may can be a solution. Every time I met this people with financial problem, I told them to try this social media. And I also give my time to teach them, and be one of the place that they can discuss. I am very open for any discussion or question. So I will teach and answer them with all my understanding that I have.

For example, I with community friends gave the socialization to the student in some boarding school. In this boarding school, there are many of student from the university who have problems with financial life. Some of them like writing. So why not they join this social media platform to get an alternative?
We gave some motivation for them to writing, and steemit can be an alternative media which offer best reward for them who want to trying hard.

4. Understanding, then Learning.

One of effective communication is when we can result the understanding each other. In steemit relationship goals, this understanding attitude must be have. At first, I try to be understand why my friends do not care to me, why they do not read and comment, am I not too interest?, and why I so difficult to increase my steemit reputation.

So, it must have a big understanding that in steemit process is more important than result. It is not only to understand myself, but try to understand other people.

I also have to understand that there is no an easy way to get success. In steemit, I must keep my spirit to be commit in posting one day one post. This commitment then became habit. I get used to write, to read, to learn many things.

So, from this steemit platform I get big learning about writing skill. And this was be my other best reward, beside just to find money. I can improve my writing skill day to day. And I am really enjoy it.

Before I know steemit, I lazy to write. There is no such motivation. And because of that, my writing skill was very down. This is became problem, especially for me as a lecturer who must take attention in writing as part of lecturer competency requirement.

From steemit I learn to have good language of writing, and make sure other people that I really acceptable and worth called as a Communication Lecturer. I try my best to write social issues, especially told about communication life. I learn to not only theoriezimg in the class room, but I also can explain what I know about communication issues around my life to many people.

5. The Esteem and Self-Actualization Needs

Now I believe to what Abraham Maslow said in his Hierarchy of Needs Theory. Steemit offer us to reach the highest hierarchy of human needs, over the basic, safety, and social or love needs.

When I realize that money not only the one that I can find here, I believe that esteem and self-actualization is more important in my life achievement. On my process in steemit, being too focus in money achievement only opressed and made me upset. Because it is need a long time to collect money if I do not be patience.

I ever felt down to survive in this steemit. It is because cheetah came to visit my posting and made my reputation and reward is down. As a newbie, I do not understand to this matter. I angry, dissappointed, and feel stressed. I thought why is this can be? I did not do plagiarism, because I just copied my old post of my another blog. But, my SBD was be down in a week long.

So, here I understand that money is not everything. But sharing, learning, good social communication, understanding and supportiveness is more important than money.

I try to survive in steemit and make sure that steemit is a media which can motivate my hobby in writing. In this process, finally I understand that finding esteem and self-actualization is more important as the highest human needs like Maslow said. And this can be reached by writing! Just writing with sincerity. I sure it.

And finally, one of my post get promoted by @OCD as one popular and good post of the day. I so happy for it. That prove me, to be consist in good writing is more important. So other people can give me good esteem and apreciation.

In the future people can know us from a good writing, not money. Money can lost, but esteem and self-actualization will be a history in human thought.
