SSP 100 Days Challenge (Day 53): NOT AN ECLOGUE
This is my fifty-third entry for the Steemit School of Poetry 100 Days Challenge.
NOT AN ECLOGUE
Waves of idiocy spray the coast
with frothy populism.
Wave runner,
your idle enterprise is sculpting
niches in the rock.
Wave maker
boat rocker.
This time you rocked
the very boat that carries your cradle.
The very boat that delivered you
from a place full of snakes
and vinegar.
Rust growing over rust
until there is no more surfaces
to rot.
Idiocy is the cult of cynical vampires
that suck the land dry
of its black juices.
An amber lightning bolt is your crucible
of testimonial, nonsensical aspirations.
Why do you want to be forever enthroned
on a broken cornucopia
like a big, fat, louse-infected moth
on the rim on a wine glass?
Aren't you fed up of being
the ketchup bottle
in the wine rack?
Turn away and plunge into oblivion
until someone unearths your tin foil crown
and writes an eclogue about your era.
Wind-up war machine,
clockwork trash feeder
of the masses.
Stop whatever it is you are doing
and plunge into the smoldering ashes
of the books your burned.
You
boat-rocking
book burning
king
of a money-less
wasteland.
NOTES
This poem has bitter political undertones. It's a word of protest against the idea that a single person is indispensable for a country and against the aspirations of ruling forever even in detriment of economic wealth.

a nice poem you wrote. according to this statement, i would say most people finding themselves where they arent belong always tend to be fed up, but some do find there way around till they join the category of where they belong.
it is a good thing to discover what we are capable of doing instead of staying where we arent fit.
Thanx for your feedback.
I added a "notes" section at the end.
