10 Steem has been the prize amount for the last little bit. It used to be based on the post payout, however that # is so small these past few months :/
Well considering the post itself only pays out about 1-2 Steem it’s all i can really afford each week. I only lose money running this contest haha. There r no reg sponsors and the contest has been going 64 weeks strong.
In that time, over a year... i’ve actually given out thousands of steem/sbd in prizes. So it’s really been quite a lot if you look back and also think retroactively.
At the contests height, when Steem was roughly 5-8$USD and the prize was about 40-50 Steem prize per week. That was was 400-500$ USD a week...so it's all relative. 10 Steem today can be 100$ USD in a few months ;)
Hey @jaybird, I personally applaud you for continuing the contest despite the hardships of Steemit of late! I really appreciate your feedback and generous upvotes of our sandwich posts, something lacking in some contests plus the generous prizes which is way more than most sponsored contests!

When it comes to Steemit Sandwich Contest, @jaybird gives a generous post upvote which we do not always get when doing any other posts plus the interaction here is great and it's a fabulous platform for expanding your Steemit network. @jaybird is very generous by continuing the contest despite the lows Steemit has been going through the past few months as he carries the cost of the prize money which btw is much more than many other sponsored contests!
In my opinion Steemit contests are not just about winning, it's about growth as a blogger, admittedly it's a bonus when you do win ;)
