Steemit Sandwich Contest Week # 18 (Theme: Simple Bread) - 1st Sandwich: Snow Flake Cream Cheese Puff

in #steemitsandwichcontest7 years ago (edited)

Is everyone looking forward to the holiday season? We have been eating out a lot lately and enjoyed some delicious festive food. Although all the food we consumed were delicious, they were quite heavy to say the least!

This is one of the reasons I would like to make some light and simple sandwiches at home this week. Life is all about balance, isn’t it?!

Also, my inspiration this week has to do with seeing so many people stressing out at the grocery stores, loading up their cart.

One lady told me she has to host 3 parties with a total of 100 guests. She looked stressed, she was struggling with her cart and said she needed two carts to get all the groceries needed on one shopping trip. My god, I was stressed out just watching her stressing out!

Really, the secret to survive this crazy holiday season in North America is to use @bleedpoet ’s KISS principal - Keep It Simple Stupid! The holiday season is not just about food, it’s about spending time to re-connect with the people we love and care.

When I was thinking simple sandwiches, I started with a piece of simple bread. To me, bread is like a piece of canvas, has so much potential, just waiting patiently for creative soul to turn into something spectacular!

My first entry for Week #18 is to turn simple bread into not so simple dessert sandwich and it is called Snow Flake Cream Cheese Puff. It’s perfect for this holiday season, when you don’t have much time to labour in the kitchen. Seriously people, don’t spend time in the kitchen, spend time in the living room instead!

So, this simple ‘minimum effort and maximum outcome’ dessert sandwich is perfect and I hope you would be interested in giving it a try and make it your own holiday dessert.

The ingredients are simple:

  • White Bread
  • Cream Cheese
  • Honey or Maple Syrup
  • Cinnamon
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Powder Sugar

The steps are simple as well:

  • Mix cream cheese with honey or maple syrup
  • Use a mold to cut the bread into a circular piece
  • Spread on a piece of bread and top with another bread
  • Seal the edges with a fork
  • Dip in egg, milk and cinnamon mixture
  • Bake for 20 minutes at 390 f
  • Garnish with powder sugar (They looked like snow flakes. BTW, we saw snow flakes in Toronto!)

Here is a slide show to illustrate how easy the ingredients and steps are:

Really, my goal this month is to focus on people, please remember to spend less time in the kitchen and spend more time with your loved one!

Let’s all get into the holiday spirit!
xoxo
