Steemit Sandwich Contest Week # 1 - The 3s Sandwich: Spinach, Sausage, Swiss-cheese (3rd Entry)
My husband needed a quick lunch and I was able to put together a hot dog for him momentarily. I made it with Spinach, Swiss-cheese, Sausage and lots of Mustard. He was wondering if I took pictures for the sandwich contest. Although I wasn’t sure if hot dog would qualify as a sandwich, I took some pics anyway.
Since I have a curious mind, I couldn’t help but wonder ‘what exactly is a sandwich?’ Also, to make sure hot dog is classified as a sandwich before I submit my post, I decided to consult my friend Google.
It turns out that the New York Department of Taxation and Finance had issued a tax bulletin that defines what is a sandwich. According to the agency, hot dogs or sausages on buns indeed are classified as sandwich.
My google search had also led to some interesting info about sandwiches that I think my Steemit friends may like. Apparently, there was a court case in which the judge ruled that burrito is NOT a sandwich. It caught my attention because I was wondering why was a judge involved in deciding what is a sandwich.
This is how the story goes … Panera Bread was upset that the mall let another ‘sandwich’ shop open up in the same location as the lease they signed won’t allow for another ‘sandwich’ shop. But the thing was this ‘sandwich’ shop only sold burritos. So, they went to court. In the end, the judge ruled that burrito is NOT a sandwich and Panera Bread lost their case.
This is such an interesting court case, I wish someone had made a movie based on it. I bet we would get such a kick out of the court scenes with lawyers arguing back and forth about sandwiches (LOL).
THAT looks really delicious. Lucky husband! :D
What a funny and crazy sandwich fact. I am not that sandwich eater. But as I follow you and see your creations I have to think that through. Maybe I come up with creations that are steemit sandwich contest worthy. :)
Have a nice day @steemit-foodie!
It's a lot of fun to create these sandwiches @alinalisa
Haha another fantastic entry and also, a fun sandwich fact!
Thank you for that!
I have always thought that anything between two slices of something is considered to be a sandwich.
A waffle sandwich for example.
Have you never made a cheese sandwich? two pieces of cheese and something in the middle?
And for this contest, I encourage Steemians to step outside of the boundaries of what is a sandwich.
I already thought a lot about this and decided to consider wraps as valid entries for this Contest should someone submit one ~
I like your thinking @jaybird !
I concur! And thank you for thinking outside of the proverbial sandwich box. With the evolving ways of eating, dietary needs, and/or modified lifestyles, the definition of a sandwich or what makes it so, is slowly morphing with the aforementioned shifts.
Bread with stuff, that's my basic sandwich definition, so dogs fly in my realm.
