Cooking in Beijing!

It has been awhile since I posted food on steemit, I have accustom myself to post food on instagram stories. But this time is rather special. Because it is my first time making this sandwich. Sometimes, the food in Beijing can get too strong or too oily for my liking, so I do like to make food inspired from different countries.

Salsa Chicken Sandwich (Servings for 3)

Things you need
2 Chicken breast (rinse and pat dry)
1/2 jar of Salsa (about 300 grams)
pressure cooker or instant pot
Cilantro (chopped )
Oil
Bread
Butter
Pan

I made this as a simple as possible and it is great for people who have busy schedules.
Step 1: Place meat in the pressure cooker and insert 1/2 jar of salsa. Close the lid
Step 2 : Pressure cooker usually have settings for meat, so choose the option for Chicken, for timer you can go for 30 minutes if you don't want the chicken to be too soft.

---After 30 minutes ---

Step 3: Turn off the pressure cooker from keeping the food warm, take off the lid, you will see that the pot is still bubbling inside, lift the chicken, rest it aside. By now, the chicken is soaked with salsa sauce.
Step 4: Get the pan ready at medium high heat, use butter to coat the pan. Meanwhile, slice the meat thickly.
Step 5: Sauté the meat for 1 minute and add chopped cilantro. This step is to give a light browning to the meat without making it dry.

I don't have a grilling pan so a skillet will have to do the job.

Step 6: Add butter and place the bread on pan on high heat. Cook according to personal preference.

Last and final step: place bread on a plate, add the Salsa chicken on the bread(if you like, add a bit of salsa sauce from the pot), add a sliced cheese on it (so it melts slowly between the chicken and the buttered bread.

Voila, Salsa Chicken Sandwich

Note

I made my sandwich slightly burnt on purpose. The Salsa I had isn't spicy and it contain a lot of flavors from the ingredients, so if you don't have time to prepare the aromatics for the chicken, you can just use whatever that is available on the shelf =) Let me know what you think about this sandwich.

---That's all from me, see you next time---

Pressure cooker is indeed the smartest kitchen item created to suit working people like us.
I've got one which I bought several years back and is still working well.

SO TRUE!!! Mine has so much buttons but I only used a couple of them 😂

Yeah.. we only use the ones that we're comfortable with. Mine has an action to bake cake and boil soup but I never use it

Looks good...any suggestion for veggies lover ??

Heyy welcome to SSC!

Very cool sandwich! Love the slow cooked chicken and Salsa combo, slightly burnt bread and addded cheese!

Interesting cultural inspiration too!

All in all nice debut :)

thank you! i was only aware of the SSC after i made the sandwich. Hope to make more next time 😁

For next time, make sure you included a "physical validation sign" in 1 of your sandwich photos so that you have a valid entry. Check out the rules in the contest post before next time!

Understood 🙂

Oh its looking so crunchy <3

oh yes... and it taste so good

That salsa looks very flavorful and looks delicious with the chicken. I don't have a pressure cooker but I think it is something that is very useful and I should get myself one.

The reason why pressure cooker or instant pot works well because it makes a regular 4 hour process shorten to 30 minutes. 😁 Make the juices soak in way fast.
Or another option is put the meat in a ziplock bag and pour in the salsa sauce, leave it in the fridge for an hour or more. After that, wrap it in a tin foil and bake it. Still Yummy at the end! Taste would be similar, the difference is the technique, and time spent 😄

@asianetwork nice sandwich recipe!! 😊
