Steemit sandwich contest week 41: genus Allium feast

greeting to the great people of steemit!!
Genus allium, probably many of you don't know what's that. Well it's is the scientific name for the onion family. So when I say genus allium Feast, that mean I am gonna make a sandwich with a lot of ingredients from the onion's family.

I present to you: Chinese scallion flaky pancake

Onions and Spring onion sesame pancake with sautéed green dragon vegetable, mashed sautéed miso tofu.

Chinese people also eat pancake, but our pancake is much more different. Instead of the typical fluffy and light pancake, our is more like a thousand layer Philo pastry. Basically it's has many layer of flaky and crispy texture. Traditional it's served as it is, but who would complain if there is more toppings right? That is why I have layer it with some Asian flavour. And yes it's vegetarian!!

What's in it

The Chinese pancake

First off I start by mixing hot water , salt and bread flour in a bowl. Knead it until it's smooth

I let it rest for 30 minute in a chiller before I flatten it out into a paper thin sheet.

I brush a layer of toasted sesame oil on the sheet and sprinckl with a layer of chopped onions and sliced spring onions.

Next I roll it up like how you would roll a cinnamon roll

Then I shape it into a spiral shape before refrigerating it.

Once the dough is chilled I rolled it out flat with a rolling pin.

Next to cook the pancake, I heat a pan of oil on medium heat before frying the pancake. Both side of the pancake should look like the picture.

If this was not a vegetarian dish, I would used tuna and mayonnaise. First I sautéed the bean curd, mashed it and mix with miso paste, fried garlic. This element will give some savouriness and saltiness to the dish. Besides that, it's will be the protein part of the sandwich.

It's like a flat version of spring onions, taste like Spring onions but much more spicy. I sautéed it with some fried shallots and Chinese rice wine to add another dept of flavour.

toasted Brazil nuts

I would go for I blend of nuts and seeds , especially sesame seeds but I currently don't have it in hand. This should give a nutty flavour and crunch to the sandwich.

how is made

1. Place the sautéed green dragon vegetable on top of the pancake along with some fried shallots

2. Sprincle some dried seaweed

3. Then the toasted nuts

lastly use a ice cream scoop to scoop out a serving of the miso tofu mash and place it on top, drizzle with Korean chile sauce. It's made from Korean chill paste, sugar, onion broth and corn starch.

and walla, you have the Chinese pancake with whole lots of toppings
