RE: Pollen Power - SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry 2 (#49 Nature Macro)
Really great shot! I love the yellow of the pollen against the blue of the center of the flower. With such a narrow focal plane it can be difficult to pick the right spot on a subject like this and even harder to nail the spot you picked using a telephoto lens.
Did you correct for excessive vignetting in the corners or do your extension tubes not produce much vignette?
Cheers,
@kellyjanderson
Thanks Kelly!
With this combo of tubes (Kenko DG Extension Tubes stacked 12/20/36mm), lens & camera, I don't recall vignetting being much of a problem, at least not noticeably to my eye.
As an aside, I don't use this as my primary camera much anymore and have not played around in macro in some time, so it was good to have an excuse to get creative.
I see you've posted some nice mushroom and flower pics as well. What is your macro setup?
Cool, I have a set of extensions around here somewhere but I got terrible vignetting with them so I have only used them once.
I first starting doing macro with my D5100 and a Nikor 55-300 Telephoto. Once I decided that I really like macro photography I bought the Nikor 40mm f2.8 micro lens. So the majority of my macro photography is done with the micro lens today.

I had my eye on the 100mm 2.8 type of macro lens sometime back but never got around to buying a dedicated macro lens as I don't shoot macro all that often. Would be interesting to compare magnification and quality of shots between the different systems.
