What an extraordinary story ~ There is a special connection between grandmothers and their granddaughters, which this work illustrates. Adore the transition into the fairy tale image.
Isn't it, though - it was a very special moment... They did/do have a very special connection, I feel. It was certainly a far better relationship than I had with my Mum as a child, but a lot of that was down to me insisting that she treat her grandchild with as much respect as she would an older individual, something that was definitely not the case in the way she mothered me! x
Maybe because we HAVE to rebel against our parents, in order to establish the 'who I am' within ourselves ~ But we don't have to 'fight' our grandparents in the same way.
I could virtually tell my grandmother anything, that I'd never tell my mother (at the time) and she would just laugh and say: 'Oh you're such a funny one.
I imagine you would have had to put your foot down a lot, in not going with the standard school system. Bravo.
I had the same experience with my paternal grandmother, @allyinspirit, which was made even more 'special' because she was VERY hard on everybody else ;o) My Mum and I were in conflict from day one: she was very young and clearly felt under tremendous pressure to 'tame/civilise' me; and I was under tremendous internal pressure to tell her how unfair that was ;o) She didn't have any other tools than shaming and reward/punishment, sadly. I re-educated her and provided some new ones when my own child came along! xx
Thank you, thecryptofiend - I'm so glad that I have photos like this that tell a story visually... It's such a privilege... I can only do my best to do them justice, and I'm glad you think that I did well with this one :o) x
