SteemitPhotoChallenge #30 Flowers - Entry 2 Blooming Winterlinge (Eranthis hyemalis)..4 Pictures
The winter time is not as dreary as one thinks. There are also many beautiful flowers at this season
The winterling is a perennial, herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 5 to 20 centimeters.
The flowering period ranges from February to March
The original home of the winter is from south-eastern France to Italy and Hungary to Bulgaria and to Turkey, where the winterling grows mainly in moist deciduous forests and bushes and vineyards.
The winterling thrives best on nutrient-rich, loose clay soils and rather in half shade than in full light.

It's nice to have some flowers in the late winter -- or very early spring! : )
I know these as Winter Aconite. People who have trouble with deer eating their plants like to use these with daffodils, because deer don't like to eat either one. And they work well under trees, like you pointed out. They do spread, so they make a nice naturalized garden over the years. Thanks for pointing out an interesting plant!
Many thanks for your interest in my post.oh ok this is a good idea to deter the deer.thank you very much.best regards
you're welcome! Happy Spring!
