50 year old desert tortoise by DreamStream

This is a macro of a 50 something year old desert tortoise named General Patton.

The red stuff by his mouth are crumbs from a hibiscus flower he was munching on just a few minutes earlier.

I've been meaning to post more about this guy with additional pics, but will share this one for starters as my first submission to this week's Nature Macro II Steemit Photo Challenge hosted by @jamtaylor with guest judge @digitalis.
