In the Philippines we call this puso nang saging or in English banana heart/flower/ or blossom.
Yes it is edible. We Filipinos love to cook them and it is served in several meals.
Here are some of the recipes just to name a few:
Ginataang puso ng saging, it is cooked in coconut cream or milk.
Kilawen or blossom ceviche.
It is also included in peanut stew or kare-kare.
According to nutritionists the benefits of eating this flower are:
Helps cure ulcer and anemia.
It is considered as great food for diabetics and lactating mothers.
For wowen, this fruit help regulates their menstrual cycles.
This fruit also somehow affects the function of kidneys in an efficient manner.
It also helps in relieving constipation.
Also this fruit helps in reducing high blood pressure.
Note: These are some but not all the benefits.
