THE DIARY OF A JOB SEEKER

As an undergraduate in one of the prestigious institution of higher learning in the country, Emmanuel is a brilliant and intelligent young man who believed in excellence through hard work and the power of prayer. He took his studies very seriously from his first year to his final year.
Having come from a poor background, he had to combine his studies and part time job. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Emmanuel is a student receiving lectures in his department or at the Library and government ministries looking for research materials for his assignments. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, he is in one building construction site as a labourer serving/ helping the brick layers.
God was with him and he found favour before his lecturers in the campus and before the brick layers and Engineers at the construction sites.
Upon graduation, he was offered an employment as an Audit Trainee in an Audit firm. This offer he accepted and later became an Audit Supervisor.
One day, Emmanuel received an invitation for a job interview from a mortgage bank. The interview was to take place in a far away city. He had never been to that city before. He had no friend or relation residing in that city. He equally had no enough money for accommodation and feeding. He thought about all these challenges and even wondered how on earth the invitation became possible knowing that he had not sent an application to that mortgage bank. He had never heard of that particular mortgage bank before. The mortgage bank had no branch in the city where Emmanuel is residing either.
Having made up his mind to take the risk and honour the invitation, he arrived at that city by 8:56pm ( 20:56 hours) a day to the D – day. To him, it was quiet late, knowing that he do not keep late night. The reason for his arriving late was beyond his control too. He was lost at the bus stop having come down from the bus that brought him to the city. He started asking the few people he saw how to get to his destination. This people were late and were hurrying home. They never gave Emmanuel audience. It is now 10:04 pm (22:00 hours) along a highway.
The whole environment appeared to be deserted by now. Fear started gripping him.
Emmanuel started praying to God silently. After a while, he heard his name from behind him. He turned, behold a lady was standing few distance away from him. As he was going closer to her, she mentioned his name again. At this point Emmanuel now recognized who she was.
Emmanuel and Angela were classmates in Primary six. They saw each other last when they came to collect their Testimonial from the School, nineteen (19) years ago. They never saw themselves again till now.
